Axminster and District Choral Society 40th anniversary Opening Concert

Axminster and District Choral Society will open their 40th anniversary programme with a performance of Haydn’s Creation in the Minster Church, Axminster on Saturday April 5th. Creation is a dramatic and exciting work with splendid melodies, deservedly a favourite with both singers and audiences. It has been performed by the choir in every decade since its founding. For the concert, the choir will be conducted by Judy Martin and will be accompanied by a professional orchestra and soloists. The audience can expect an enjoyable evening of outstanding music.

Later in the year the choir’s concerts will include Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast and Bob Chilcott’s Requiem. The year will conclude with a Come and Sing Messiah in Seaton, in December, echoing the event which gave rise to the choir forty years ago.
